Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Alpha launch and it has regularly pushed the limits of phone screens and form factors, from the first model with super bezel wars to last year’s sliding, notch-less Mi Mix 3. Now, Xiaomi has moved forward with its extreme all body curved screen which will also be named as waterfall screen.
The “surround screen” on the Mi Mix Alpha wraps entirely around the device to the point where it meets the camera module on the other side. Xiaomi also claimed that its screen is more than 180 per cent screen-to-body ratio, a stat that no longer does any sense to cite at all. The effect is of a phone that’s almost entirely made of screen, with status icons like network signal and battery charge level displayed on the side. Pressure-sensitive volume buttons are also shown on the side of the phone.
The Mix Alpha has Samsung’s new 108-megapixel camera sensor which was co-developed with Xiaomi. If we talk about Mi Mix Alpha Specs so it will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, 5G connectivity, 12GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, 40W wired fast-charging, and a 4,050mAh battery. That last spec would perhaps suggest that Xiaomi doesn’t think you having the whole screen turned on all the time.
The device will obviously face issues with cost, durability, battery life, accidental touch recognition, privacy, and so on. On the other, well, just look at it:
